초대의 글

한 여름으로 접어드는 이즈음 문화사회학회는 세계적 석학 제프리 알렉산더 예일대 석좌교수와 그의 대표적 제자들인 필립 스미스 교수, 그리고 로날드 제이콥스 교수를 모시고 ‘해외석학 초청 포럼’을 개최하려고 합니다. 특히 알렉산더 교수와 두 제자 교수들은 문화사회학에서의 ‘스트롱 프로그램’의 전개를 통하여, ‘문화의 사회학(sociology of culture)’으로부터 ‘문화사회학(cultural sociology)’으로의 전환을 주도하고 있음은 잘 알려져 있습니다. 부디 왕림해 주셔서 문화사회학의 ‘예일학파’의 진수를 접하고 풍성한 논의의 장에 동참해 주실 것을 기대합니다.

I am delighted to announce that The Korean Association for Sociology of Culture is holding a forum, 'Strong Program in Cultural Sociology,' with Jeffrey C. Alexander (Lillian Chavenson Saden Professor of Sociology, Yale University), Philip Smith (Associate Professor of Sociology, Yale University), and Ronald N. Jacobs (Associate Professor of Sociology, SUNY Albany) presenting talks. Professor Alexander and his former students, Professors Smith and Jacobs, are well known for leading the transition from 'sociology of culture' to 'cultural sociology' through advocating the 'strong program'. Please come to this event, enjoy the essence of the 'Yale school' of cultural sociology, and be a part of this academic forum.
